emacs24-lucid software package provides GNU Emacs editor (with Lucid GUI support), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install emacs24-lucid
emacs24-lucid is installed in your system.
Make ensure the emacs24-lucid package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep emacs24-lucid *
You will get with emacs24-lucid package name, version, architecture and description in a table
